Wedding at Öland

How did you choose your wedding dress?
Honestly, when I started trying on wedding dresses, I barely knew what I was looking for. I looked online and found several models that I tried at Malina. In the end, I settled for Meghan because it's classic and stylish but had that little extra with an open back and train.

How did you choose your bridal boquet and dresses for your bridesmaides?
Since we aimed for an overall sleek feel at the wedding, I wanted my bridal bouquet and the table bouquets to "pop" and have more color. We got married in June before midsummer and wanted it to have a summer vibe. As for the bridesmaids' dresses, I've always loved the color green and thought it was beautiful that everyone leaned towards the minty/pastel side of that color.

What was the location of your wedding and why did you choose it?
We got married on the beautiful island of Öland! The reason we chose Öland is that my husband's parents have a summer cottage there, and also, it's quite close to where we live in Småland. We got married in Gärdslösa Church. We toured various churches on Öland one day in September 2021 and settled on Gärdslösa Church because it was very beautiful inside.
When we looked for a reception venue, we immediately fell in love with Ekerum Resort Öland. The reception venue was an old barn that had been renovated. It was sleek, charming, and a bit rural. We were looking for a sleek feel with lots of light, and we found it there.

Was there a any special moment during the day that was extra meaningful too you?
Wow, what a difficult question! The entire day was fantastic, so it's hard to choose. The feeling in the church, standing up there with your love and looking out over friends and family. It's so overwhelming, and you feel such gratitude for the people you have in your life.

Did you have a special theme for table decorations and food?
We didn't have a specific theme other than, as I mentioned earlier, aiming for a sleek feel but with pops of color in the flower bouquets on the tables to add a playful and summery vibe. As for the food, we sampled the options provided by Ekerum and chose what we found most delicious!

Where did the wedding dinner take place?
At Ekerum Resort Öland. The best part was all the incredible speeches and songs that our family and friends delivered. It felt like a real outpouring of love! I'm so glad we asked some friends to film it all so we have everything saved!

What advice do you have for other couples planning their wedding?
I would say to do things in good time! Everything takes much longer than you think, and for us, it was important not to feel too much stress as the big day approached. It's also important to prioritize what is most important for the bridal couple, otherwise, it's easy to feel like everything needs to be prioritized! At the same time, I would like to tell myself in hindsight not to take every decision so seriously, everything turns out so well and successful anyway!
